Winery Events

We've been working with a couple of wineries in Northern
California to put together customized travel programs for their wine club members. If you'd like more information on setting such an event for your winery, restaurant or business, please let us know.

Food and Wine Cruises

Often, our top cruise partners have food and wine festival at sea.  Be sure to ask ask for the latest from Seabourn, Silversea, Crystal, Regent, Cunard and others.

Hotels for Foodies

This is a list I would love to add to, but for now:

Les Auberges d'Alain Ducasse.  Discover this Frenchman's collection of small inns in France and Italy.

St. Regis Aficionado [from Starwood]. Indulge your love of fine food and wine by attending one of the superb events St. Regis brings to the table for epicureans and oenophiles like you.

Worldwide Restaurant Recommendations

LONDON

Indian / Mela Restaurant / 152 Shaftesbury Ave / Tel 020 7836 8635 / May 2009 / In middle of the West End, great food, moderately priced, adequate decor. Would definitely return. Normally not a big samosa fan, but they served 2 of them as an appetizer with a trio of very flavorable sauces. Best I've had.

LOS ANGELES

Italian / Bottega Louie / 700 South Grand Ave / Tel +01 213-802-1470 / September 2009 / In the middle of downtown L.A. in an old bank, this all white marble restaurant/gourmet take out is a fun and happening place.

Jewish / Nate'n Al / 414 North Berverly Dr / Tel +01 310-274-0101 / December 2010 / Right in the middle of Beverly Hills, I sat next to Doris Day in the 60s, and this time next to a couple of stars my newphew knew and to whom I was clueless. Great food. Better star and people watching. Art's Deli in the Valley has better food and you'll probably see a TV star there, too.

FLORENCE

Italian / 4 Leoni /  via de'Vellutini, 1r / Tel 055 218562 / February 2007 / On a quiet piazza in Oltrarno. It's very popular and fairly Hollywood, but very nice.

And outside of town in the Tuscan countryside of Chianti, in the town of Panzano check out this Renaissance man of a butcher.  Antica Macelleria Cecchini.

MAUI

Seafood / Cuatro / 1881 S. Kihei Rd / Tel 808-879-1110 / December 2011 / Low key, high quality, small establish in unspectacular strip mall.  Next door to the very well known sushi (& now seafood) restaurant Sensei tel 808-879-0004

"A fusion of Hawaiian and California Cuisine" / Spago / in the Four Seasons Wailea / Tel 808-879-2999 / December 2011

Quintissential Maui Seafood / Mama's Fishhouse / Just past Paia on the Hana Road. Not far from the airport / Tel 808-579-8488 / December 2011

PARIS

Jams & mustards / l'Epicerie / ile st-louis / September 2008 / A fabulous little store on the busy main street here. Try the mures sauvage jam (wild blackberry) Can't believe they sell online!

SAN FRANCISCO

Ice Cream / Humphry Slocombe / in the mission
Ice Cream /
Bi.Rite Creamery / mission dolores
Pizza /
Zachary's/ oakland and berkeley
Italian, very foodie, not traditional, casual / Barbacco / financial district

or going to Sacramento? Try The Firehouse. An 1850s dining experience worthy of the best well to do gold rushers.

VALENCIA, SPAIN

Ultra Chic / Michelin Star / arrop richard camarena
Rustic / Tapas / Casa Montana

PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO

Authentic / Top Quality / Interesting / Indoor-Outdoor. I didn't particulary like PV but this place was fabulous. Went there twice in 5 days. / in the central downtown area /  El Arrayan

OTHER DESTINATIONS

Check out Food and Wine magazine's suggestions.
Also,
Chowhound is my favorite message board and has pointed me to great meals from Las Cruces, NM to the Big Island to Cape Town.
And
Frommer's is great too - it's how I found Mela in London (above) and another great spot in Boston.

[if you have additional suggestions, please email them to me.]
